The air in the room

Share

The air indoors, how is it? Fresh, or has it gone a little stale? We stop noticing.

In a closed room, the air slowly fills with what we breathe out. Some research suggests fresh air and good ventilation may keep thinking clearer, while stale, stuffy air can dull it. Often a window is all it takes.

When did you last let fresh air in?

What you'll need

  • A window or a door you can open
  • A minute to feel the difference

Method

Notice the air as it is now, the temperature, the freshness, how it feels to breathe.

Open a window or step outside, and take a few full breaths of fresher air.

Feel the difference, in the air and in you.

Try it a few times a day for a week, and notice when the air around you goes stale, and whether fresh air shifts how you feel or think.
