Oiling the joints
Through a day at a desk, we move the joints through a sliver of their range. A few circles wake them up.
The joints are made to circle, the wrists, ankles, neck, hips, shoulders. In yoga, working each one through its range is a practice of its own, held to keep the body oiled and easy. Some people find a minute of it clears the day's stiffness.
Which of yours has gone stiff?
What you'll need
- A minute, standing or sitting
- Nothing else
Method
Take each joint slowly through its circles, wrists and ankles first, then neck, shoulders, and hips, both ways.
Go gently, no forcing, just feeling each one move through its full range.
Do a round once or twice a day for a week, and notice which joints feel tight, and whether they ease over the days.
