The moon tonight

Share

There's a moon up there most nights. We've mostly stopped looking.

It moves through its phases on a steady cycle, full to dark and back, about a month. People have marked time by it for as long as there have been people. Some still find watching it a quiet way to feel the month turn.

What's it doing tonight?

What you'll need

  • A clear-ish night sky
  • A window or a step outside

Method

On a clear night, find the moon and really look, the shape, the size, how bright.

Note the phase, full, half, a sliver, or dark.

Look for it across a month, and notice how it changes, and how following the cycle sits with you.
