The quiet hours between

Share

Between meals, there's often something. A snack, a coffee, a bite on the way past.

In the yogic sciences, a clear gap between meals, with little in between, is said to give the body time to clean house. Some people find they feel lighter for it. And some research suggests eating close to bedtime may make sleep lighter, with more waking, so an earlier evening meal may help too.

What would an earlier evening meal change for you?

What you'll need

  • Two meals you look forward to
  • A gap of five or six hours between them
  • An evening meal that finishes well before bed

Method

Aim for a clear gap of five to six hours between meals, with little in between.

Let your evening meal finish two to three hours before you go to bed.

Notice you're arriving at the next meal ready, not stuffed and not starving.

Give it a week or two, and notice how light you feel between meals, and how you settle at night.
